When I started playing music so many years ago

Thought it was way too bad I had no way to know.

Just how far it’d take me or how long it would last, yea.

Back in those early days the time it went so fast

I never seen it comin’ Now I’m right here in the heart of thunder

And then they started paying for what we I loved to do

And If you got some cash hell yea I’ll play for you.

Well those parties and those night clubs damn it all was great

But much to my surprise that sudden twist of fate

I never seen it coming Now I’m right here in the heart of thunder

And then, as time went by I tried to let it go

I tried to give it up but as you already know

I found my self again and again right back up on stage, yea

No matter how I tried I couldn’t turn the page

I know I’m deep down in it Deep down in the heart of thunder

And so as time went by it soaked up half my life

Damn near lost everything my house, my kids, my wife

Well you know I did my damnedest trying to fight this disease, yea

Now that I’m at peace with it that put my mind at ease
